Why Do You Wear Veil?

A classic question that I do not always have the guts to answer honestly: 'Why do you wear veil?'

Well, yes, though I am not really devoted to it (and though maybe many people don't even consider what I wear veil), I can be called 'a lady with veil' cause I wear it in most of the public spaces.

The reasons to wear veil can vary among women. They might merely say 'I got the calling from God' or 'I feel calmed and relieved when I am wearing it'. Some others might say that it is what the religion (or God) wants them to do. Some say that they do it because their parents want it.

While for me, my reason is a bit cheesy. I wear veil for the goodness of men. Once in my life, an important man in my faculty said that even the Quran recitation of the most pious men can be disturbed (without they wanting it) when they see the glimpse of a woman's hair or other particular parts of the body. This is quite a whip for me.

Well, I can say that I wear veil because I don't want to foil a man's Quran recitation by letting them see my hair (which I don't know is quite tempting or not), my cleavage (which I sure will show if I don't wear veil), my neck (which I am sure is one of the sexiest parts of my body), my thighs (which I sure will show by wearing hot pants if I don't wear veil), and my back (which I sure will show by sometimes wearing a backless dress if I don't wear veil).

Though I am not as perfect as my religion expects me to be, what I am doing is enough to save a man from failing his Quran recitation.

Well, that is the most honest reason I can tell you. Like it or not, it is what it is.

NB: Hopefully, I can say that I am now preparing myself for a bigger Hijra.
